NetZeRoCities Competition – First Edition

Citizen participation in the transition of cities towards climate neutrality is essential.

The competition we are launching—now at its first edition—is organized within the framework of the NetZeRoCities Competence Center. Its goal is to encourage young people to identify solutions to real problems in the cities they live in and to make those ideas public, so they can be acknowledged by the NetZeRoCities Center, analyzed, and further developed in collaboration with appropriate and authorized entities.

This first edition of the competition addresses the following broad themes: governance, green energy, transport – infrastructure – urban mobility, construction – buildings, climate-neutral environment and sustainable recycling, and resilient communities for climate neutrality transition. The competition reflects the core values of the Competence Center: “Climate Neutrality, Climate Change, Carbon Emissions, Civic Attitude,”“Safety, Smart City, Technology, Digitalization, Carbon Inventory,”“Carbon Footprint, Civic Engagement, Dignity and Future Generations,”“Responsibility, Transparency, and Climate Integrity.”

Idea proposals should be submitted by the team leader through an official form, following the suggested guidelines. There are no restrictions on the number of team members or their academic status; however, the competition is primarily aimed at PhD candidates, Master’s, and Bachelor’s students. Submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by a panel of experts from the NetZeRoCities Competence Center’s partner institutions. Finalists will have the opportunity to present their selected proposals in an online event.
